Treat mileage as a measurement, not a condition report
The odometer is useful information, but it cannot describe the whole car. A listing showing 0 km and one showing 50,000 km represent different advertised usage; neither figure alone establishes maintenance, storage conditions, registration history or warranty. Ask for the current reading at the time of viewing and check it against the supporting records.
What to ask about an advertised 0 km car
Clarify whether the car has previously been registered, whether it has been used for demonstration or delivery, and what the displayed mileage is today. Ask when any warranty began and which organisation provides it. A model year does not tell you the date of first registration or how much cover remains. Confirm the original market, included accessories and any delivery preparation in the written offer.
What “low mileage” does and does not tell you
Low mileage is a relative description rather than a substitute for an actual number. Compare the reading with the car’s age and documented history. A lightly driven car may still have time-dependent maintenance needs; ask a qualified specialist what is due on the specific example. Likewise, a higher-mileage car deserves assessment on its records and condition, not rejection based on a single figure.
Keep your comparison factual
Use separate columns for model year, current mileage, registration history, service documentation, specification and warranty provider. Avoid merging all of those into a label such as “like new”. Request an inspection and ask the seller to clarify any inconsistency before committing. Descriptions such as pristine or immaculate are presentation claims; they are not inspection findings.
Choose the example that fits your use
If you will drive regularly, consider the upcoming maintenance and equipment you will actually use.
